Link 16 Frequency Clearance

Frequency Clearance

For the last 30 years JCSys staff have been supporting UK MoD and other nations in developing, maintaining and monitoring Link 16 Frequency Clearance Agreements. The sole intention of which is to allow the maximum affordable network capacity to Link 16 users, enabling them to train as they wish to fight.  Activities include safety management, testing and consultancy.

Laboratory Testing

JCSys operate a dedicated laboratory at Great Baddow in Essex from where we can undertake a wide range of Radio Frequency system compatibility testing. Previous projects have included testing Programme Making and Special Events (PMSE) radio microphones against Aeronautical DME systems and Link 16 against the new L-Band Digital Aeronautical Communication System (LDACS).

Field Testing

JCSys can undertake not only laboratory testing but also specialise in RF field monitoring services. JCSys have recently developed the Link 16 Pulse Monitoring System, designed specifically to monitor the real Link 16 RF environment independently from network and NPG constraints. This was deployed in isolation and was used to monitor in real time and record the RF spectrum for later analysis.
